Land of Kings 2012

May’s bank holiday weekend saw Land of Kings rear its head for a fourth year, weaving through the streets of Dalston casting a spotlight on its bubbling creativity. This year saw the festival spread across more venues than ever before, giving revelers a bigger pit to play in.  Live music came from Slow Club, Connan Mockasin, Trophy Wife, Speech Debelle and Factory Floor, whilst DJ sets from The Horrors, Maurice Fulton, Hannah Holland, Trevor Jackson, Bicep and Gwilym Gold kept things rocking and raving til the wee small hours.  Art, interactive and film came from Hackney Film Festival, BestCleo, Dalston Darlings, Stoke Newington International Airport, Literary Deathmatch, Hammer & Tongue, London Fields Radio, and much more.  Until next year, when the kingdom awakes once more, some photo-shaped memories and a little vid here

Land of Kings has grown from a promising idea into a vital, frenetic and fun music exchange in one of Europe’s most lively and progressive party neighborhoods.”

“Like the ugly duckling amongst the ducks, LoK has grown into the swan, and the other London based street fests can only bask in its well-planned, well-designed, excellently-programmed glory. The teeming line-up, exciting venues and lack of insufferable crowds left Crack making the journey home wishing it could be Land of Kings every weekend.”
