Let Us Be Golden
Shot during the Red Bull Music Academy in London in 2010, ‘Let Us Be Golden’ is a feature film about the perception of success in the music industry. In the current climate when Youtube hits, TV talent shows, and social media make success seem like an instant achievement, director Colin O’Toole and producer Miranda Sawyer delve into the gritty realities of the hard grind. Following three very different artists – Fatima, The Cheek and Beth Jeans Houghton – the documentary shadows them through their journeys to try and forge their way in the music industry, having all moved to London to ‘make it’. Fatima and honcho of her label Alexander Nut performed at Land of Kings each side of a premiere of the flick at the Arcola Tent.
