New York Music Map

Today we’re pleased to share a project a while in the making, the New York Music Map. A collaboration between ourselves, friend and writer Frank Broughton (Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, DJ History, Lowlife), and illustrator Adam Hayes, today sees the launch of the limited edition screen print and website.

The print is an original typographical map, made up of some 450 icons of New York’s music scenes, past and present. After a fair bit of back and forth, a list of New York’s most significant musicians was drawn-up and illustrator Adam Hayes was commissioned to realise the final piece.

Some names will be there for all time; some may fade away as their novelty recedes. No-one’s perfect; we did our very best.  Most people are in the right place, but there’s only so much space downtown.  Tell us who we’ve forgotten, argue about who’s on and who’s not.  Get mad, get inspired (or be grateful if you’re even on there at all!)

The map’s first edition consists of 100x A2 and 25x A1, each screen-printed by hand from the original artwork at Jealous Print Studios, Shoreditch on 300gsm Somerset Satin paper.  Each is individually numbered by the printer, and deliverable across the UK and internationally.
