Today saw the launch of Obonjan (pronounced O-BON-YAN), a little slice of paradise off Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. It will be Europe’s first ever arts and wellbeing island when it opens for its inaugural season in July 2016, and we’re very pleased to be bringing you the details of the arts and entertainment they’ll be putting on in their opening year. With the guys from Sound Channel forming part of the creative team behind the island, they’ve called on some stellar names to keep year one visitors entertained, including the likes of DJ Shadow, Matthew Herbert, Talaboman, Poliça, Lindstrøm, and Roy Ayers. With the season running till September, there’ll be even more talent gracing the island’s shores too, where they’ll get the chance to perform either poolside, or in Obonjan‘s vast stone amphitheatre.
And this is just one part of the offering! With a two month programme taking in art, talks and workshops, creative activities, sports, food and wellbeing, all encased in an ethos of development, conservation, and responsible resource management, Obonjan is a proposition like no other, and looks set to change the way we think about more than just travel.
So what are you waiting for? They’re accepting bookings now for the 2016 season, running July – September, and you can check out the brochure on their site HERE.
