Today saw the launch of the WeGotTickets INDIE50, a new campaign to celebrate the unsung heroes behind the country’s regional indie scenes. Whether they’re promoters, venue owners, journalists, or even the door person at your local venue, this list has been created to spotlight the people who pour blood, sweat and tears into their local scene, often for very little reward, other than making our nation’s scene one of the best in the world!
The INDIE50 is open to public nominations from today. Whether you’re a gig-going fan with an encyclopaedic knowledge of your local scene, or an artist who’s dealt first hand with a worthy INDIE50 inductee, the only requirement is that they be an independent/self-made individual with a track record of providing a platform for fresh talent in their local area. Sound like someone you know? Visit the site HERE and make your submission.
The eventual list of nominees will be whittled down to 50 by an expert judging panel featuring BBC 6 Music tastemaker Tom Ravenscroft, prominent music writer Laura Snapes, champion of fresh young talent and live agent Jason Edwards, general manager of new music festival The Great Escape Kevin Moore, and Stephen Bass, owner of long-standing indie imprint Moshi Moshi. How’s that for some authority on the subject?
