After a bumper weekend up north in Glasgow, Red Bull Music Academy brought things back to London for a week of shows, lectures and workshops.
Rejjie Snow kicked off proceedings, launching his new label Snow Face to a maxed capacity crowd at Kamio. Trilogy Tapes’ illusive artists Rezzett performed a live show alongside Dommune AV artist Naohiro Ukawa at the South London Gallery whilst Gorgon City shed some light on their production processes at Red Bull Studios.
Thursday started at The Macbeth, where London hip-hop artist Jay Prince launched his new mixtape, Smile Good, recorded at Red Bull Studios. The Tour then headed to The Yard in Hackney Wick to gain an insight into Dizzee Rascal’s illustrious career, as he took a seat on the Red Bull Music Academy couch, spanning through everything behind his seminal album Boy In Da Corner to more recent output.
Later that evening, Awful Records represented the Atlanta rap scene at its finest, within the beautiful setting of St Johns Church, with their full crew turning out including label boss Father alongside Abra, Tommy Genesis, Etheral, Lord Narf and special guest Blood Orange.
Next stop, South London’s Corsica Studios celebrated Awesome Tape From Africa’s 10th birthday with special appearance from the highly acclaimed Ghanaian singer Ata Kak
